Cataclysm healing

The ones of you that like to browse wow-europe might have noticed the article "Why does blizzard hate healers?" (http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/blog/991479#blog). There it's stated that they want to make healing more interesting and balanced through harder resource handling, spells will cost more and your manapool will be smaller. Another hope of theirs is that crowd controll will become necessary again in instances, which is great. Brings back memories of vanilla wow!
Granted, healers in wotlk and BC were overpowered, never going oom and being next to invulnerable.

Today I did a 5man instance with Kesha as a healer, the mobs did pretty tough damage but it wasn't disproportionate. I healed a little weaker than I remembered, but as my spec is leaning towards PvP more than PvE I didn't react (more survivability, less healing). But as I looked at my manapool rapidly droping with 75% of the mobs still alive I realised that this wouldn't work. We managed the group after the paladin tank used lay on hands and the rogue died.
So I started to look for reasons. Did we pull more than one group? No. Is there something wrong with my gear? How could it? Im wearing the best pieces that have been available to me so far.

I have experience from both PvP and PvE raiding as a healer, so it's not like im too incompetent to heal a 5man. It's obvious that something is wrong. What pisses me off is that after those ages of beta testing they go through with their games in general, something as fundamental as this has failed.
I used to wonder why the queue for instances was 50min+, but now I get it. There are no healers available!

It's too early for me to be able to form my own opinion on this, but I'm seeing quite some cry posts about dungeons being as hard as they were in Vanilla again. And of course some people are very happy about it (that would include me once I can confirm it). The only dungeon Bonnie and I have done so far was Blackrock Caverns and it went pretty smooth. The group was your quite average one apart from a fury warrior who did do quite a bit more damage than the rest of us. But I doubt that made the difference.

In your case there it could have been just a weak group when it comes to skill (interrupts, etc) or maybe their gear spec. It's very early in the game so I wouldn't worry too much. They'll balance it out if need be.

One thing I've noticed so far is that I take a lot more damage as tank from normal quest mobs than I did in wotlk. It's probably partly because I don't have enough avoidance on my gear yet though. I've seen only 2 pieces of tanking kit from quests rewards so far. I assume more will come as one nears level 85.

So far I'm mostly liking the design and feel of the zones. I was skilling up my mining in Deepholme and it looks really awesome there. I can't wait to start questing there. Still got 80/160 quests in Vashj'ir to do though :|

Now that I think of it, I was exaggerating a bit. It was late and I was pissed when I posted the note ;D
